Before inserting the lace in the metal clasp, I suggest you slightly burn off the edges with a lighter to avoid future fraying at the cut end.

I had the problem, that my foot was sliding in the shoe while dancing sometimes, so I had to tighten it up, but then it was to tight and uncomfortable. I also tried to not tie my sneakers but the would loosen up. This is for now the best solution I had, so I ordered them for all my shoes
